Intelligent self-defense

for people who love martial arts

Self-defense training is for the fight

you didn't see coming.

In one moment you are simply going about your day, and in the next you come face to face with life-threatening opposition.

You have to regain your balance and shift quickly from “This can’t be happening!” to razor-sharp focus and a will of fire.

We practice this shift every day by providing an encouraging, fun environment where it feels safe to try new things…

…combined with challenging training experiences designed to build your skill and resilience.

the art of mastering balance

Kids develop resiliency, awareness, and respect.

A big part of self-defense is self-worth. We help kids develop authentic, relaxed confidence through fun, collaborative, high-energy training.

Kids learn to see themselves as powerful, responsible, and capable of doing difficult things—like standing up to a bully or cleaning their room!

Youth and Adults learn intelligent self-defense skills.

Self-defense starts with awareness. Each moment of a conflict reveals new information that can help you escape to safety.

Learn to use position and posture over strength. Predictive timing over raw speed. Practicality over high-kicks.

As you advance, your techniques get even more sneaky, subtle, and effortless—perfect for those of us who aren’t getting any younger!

In all of our training we strive to cultivate an indomitable spirit to maintain clarity and determination in the face of opposition.

I never expected to do this, especially as I got older.

Quest Martial Arts Raleigh changed me and how I view the world. I no longer want to fight everything. I’m more relaxed in everything I do.

To-Shin Do shodan

The teachers at Quest help bring my reserved, shy kid out of her shell. At the same time they help my energetic kid focus his energy in a disciplined way.

I love that my kids have such skilled and positive role models. I liked it so much, I had to start training for myself!
